Refurbishment & Alterations of a Terrace House

This property is one of a group of five terrace houses, 4 storeys high with roof extensions in form of set back conservatories. The main feature of these properties is their location which provides amazing views over the river and the O2 Arena across the river.

We were involved in the project from start to finish, although some furniture design and the decking of terraces and balcony is still to come. We acheived planning permission for a total re-design of the interior layout, a new ground floor facade and the change of a loft storage into a conservatory.

The building’s interior was entirely gutted, except for the floor joists, and rebuilt from the bottom up.

The core of the building with stairs, hallways and bathrooms was made more compact, thus allowing extra space for the habitable rooms, despite having wider stairs and hallways than before.

Previously dark rooms, due to wodden panelling and daylight-blocking wardrobes, became bright modern spaces.

All new surfaces and fixtures are of contemporary design. Our main objectives were to modernize and utilize all available spaces, to let daylight flood through the house and to further improve the already great views towards the River Thames.

This was probably our best and most enjoyable project so far because the client’s taste and style was very close to our own. We were able to implement almost all of our ideas and turned this terrace house into a beautiful home.

Most of our photos were taken while construction was still ongoing. We have yet to go back and take ‘beauty shots’.
